Corona Virus Quarantine Day #199: National Coaching Day: October 6, 2020:
So I heard today was National Coaching day, that’s fun. Who knew that was a thing? Not me! I just got home from a night of volleyball that was pretty intense. So, in honor of national coaching day I’d like to say thank you to all of those that coached me. I had a lot of different type of coaches. Ones that pushed me, ones that believed in me, others that challenged me and some that doubted me. All of them made me who I am. I’m grateful for every type of experience I had as a player from grade school, to high school and through college. Playing volleyball has always been an enormous part of my life. I now get to coach it everyday with kids I love and with my very best friend.
To everyone I’ve coached with, I have enjoyed each and every one of you. I have learned from each and every one of you and I consider you always as a part of my family.
To the coaches I coach against. I respect you. I appreciate your hard work. I know what you do every day for your players and they are lucky to have you.
To my favorite coach, Bryan Dorsey. You are the best at what you do and I’m not only grateful, but lucky to have you at my side while I do the thing I believe I was born to do. You make everyone around you better. Any kid who gets to have you as a coach is a better human because of it.
To my first coaches, my parents, thank you for teaching me to fight for what I believe in and for what I want. Thank you for telling me to be persistent, persistence pays off. Thank you for teaching me to advocate for myself and for not getting in my way when I tried to do it. Thank you for telling me you loved watching me play. Thank you for watching me play.
In this year of Covid 19, I pray for all those brave enough to coach. This year is one for the books.
