Corona Virus Quarantine Day #157: Back to School: August 25, 2020:
If you are anything like me you are currently singing “Back to School” from Grease 2. Never seen that? I’m sorry for you. It’s a classic. Cheesy but soooo good…check it out.
Tomorrow our kids will go back to school for a half day for the first time since March 13th.
I am all kinds of emotions about it.
Real talk…I’m tired. I’m overwhelmed. I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m uncertain.
Our youngest child is going to big boy school for the first time ever. How is that possible?
Our oldest children are in the 5th grade? That seems insane.
I remember how excited and nervous I’d get the night before my first day of school. I think I felt that way all the way through my freshman year of college. The excitement, the nerves, the uncertainty…all of it is still so fresh in my mind.
Our kids went to bed tonight and I am certain they are feeling all those things. They mostly say they are excited. No one admitted to being nervous but I know my kids, all of except maybe one, Fletcher, are nervous. That kid won’t even bat an eye at walking away from us into his classroom…and that will make it a little bit harder for me.
I excited for them. I’m glad they are going to get back to some semblance of “normal”. I pray each night that they love school, their teachers, their experience and that above all everyone is safe.
So in the spirit of back to school I asked them their usual start of school questions. Here are their answers:
